作为企业管理决策的制定者与执行者,具备多元职业经历的CEO日益受到企业界和学术界的关注。已有研究探讨了CEO复合职业经历对投资、创新、并购和风险管理等经济行为的影响,鲜有研究关注CEO复合职业经历如何影响企业社会责任行为,尤其是对慈善捐赠的影响。基于高阶理论和制度理论,深入分析了CEO复合职业经历对企业慈善捐赠的影响以及边界条件。结果表明,CEO复合职业经历对企业慈善捐赠具有显著的促进作用。进一步研究发现,外部环境中的行业竞争强度和政府补助均负向调节二者的关系,内部企业因素中的盈利能力和独立董事则发挥正向调节作用。研究结论不仅为解析企业慈善捐赠行为提供了新的视角,也深化了对CEO复合职业经历的社会影响的理解和认知。
Abstract:As both decision-makers and executors of corporate management decisions, CEOs with diverse career backgrounds are attracting increasing attention from both the business community and academia. Existing studies have explored the impact of CEOs' diverse career experiences on economic behaviors such as investment, innovation, mergers and acquisitions, and risk management, but few have examined how such experiences influence corporate social responsibility, particularly corporate charitable donations. Drawing on upper echelons theory and institutional theory, this study analyzes the effect of CEOs' diverse career experiences on corporate charitable donations and its boundary conditions. The results show that CEOs' diverse career experiences have a significant positive effect on corporate charitable donations. Further analysis reveals that external environmental factors—industry competition intensity and government subsidies—negatively moderate this relationship, while internal corporate factors—profitability and the proportion of independent directors—positively moderate it. These findings not only provide a new perspective for understanding corporate charitable donation behavior but also deepen the understanding of the social implications of CEOs 'diverse career experiences.
